Our Services
At Living Space
We provide 24/7/365 services for co-ed adults who experiencing or who are at risk of experiencing homelessness.
Clients accessing services are required to develop and work through goal-setting plans aimed transitioning them from homelessness to stabilized housing. The team at Living Space helps clients build capacity, connect clients to appropriate services and divert clients to more appropriate housing options.
As an emergency shelter, Living Space is the last resort for any people. We work closely with our community and district partners to ensure that our clients access the most appropriate housing, as quickly as possible. Service providers whose clients have requested to attend Living Space are required to contact the shelter prior to their arrival in order to develop a case management plan.
Emergency Shelter & Drop-in Program
We operate a first-come, first-serve emergency overnight drop-in shelter. Operating up to a 63-bed facility, all clients are required to complete an intake when entering for the first time. Clients are required to check-in at the shelter desk on a daily basis to register for a bed.
During the day, individuals experiencing homelessness can access washrooms, shower and laundry facilities at Living Space. While accessing the drop-in, clients are required to connect and work with staff on their housing and goal setting plans.
Rapid Housing
Shelter diversion is one of the most important parts of running an emergency shelter. As an important form of shelter diversion, our Housing team actively collaborates with community agencies to house individuals in the most appropriate housing, as quickly as possible. Knowing that the transition to housed from homeless is difficult, our team ensures that clients are connected with wraparound services to help them maintain stable housing.
As part of the intake process, clients will identify goal-setting plans for any ID requirement needs, housing or other supports required.
Community Outreach
The community outreach program at Living Space brings the shelter to those sleeping rough, or who don’t access existing programs and services. Our highly-skilled Outreach Workers bring the diversion, referral and goal setting work to the street, providing connection, follow-up and support for those sleeping rough.
Community Outreach is a vital component to ending chronic homelessness in our community.
Health Care & Harm Reduction
We know that those experiencing homelessness are at a significant risk of negative health outcomes. Living Space is extremely fortunate to partner with local health service providers, offering various services to clients at no charge. This includes access to primary care, addictions medicine support and basic wound care.
Living Space also operates a 24/7 harm reduction program as a satellite site of the Porcupine Health Unit. Individuals can access Naloxone distribution 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Sharps Collection
Alongside community partners, Living Space provides external sharps collection to the City of Timmins.
If you find a sharp in the community, please contact our 24/7 feedback line at 705-531-7233, extension 417.
