Carol Kauppi is the Director of the Centre for Research in Social Justice and Policy and a Professor of Social Work at Laurentian University. Carol is also the Director of a multi-year, multi-methods research project, Poverty, Homelessness and Migration in Northern Ontario, a Community-University Research Alliance funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. Between 2010 and 2016, Poverty, Homelessness and Migration conducted 62 studies of homelessness. Carol is the lead author on the report entitled Homelessness and Hidden Homelessness in Rural and Northern Ontario, a province-wide study completed in 2017. She is also the author of the Ontario document “Period Prevalence Counts of People Experiencing Homelessness: A Guide for Rural and Northern Communities” published by the Ministry of Housing in 2017.She is currently working with a team of researchers and the North East Local Health Integration Network on a project examining palliative care needs of people living with homelessness in northeastern Ontario.
